iSHARE2 1stTraining Workshop
iSHARE2 1st Training workshop was conducted successfully in Pune, India from 19th - 25th January 2013. The objective of the workshop was to strengthen and maintain the skills, procedures and infrastructure to share quality longitudinal datasets of public health importance. Nine centres participated in the workshop out of which six could share their datasets on the repository till now.
iSHARE2 2ndTraining Workshop
iSHARE2 2nd Training workshop was conducted successfully in Africa Centre for Health & Population Studies, Mtubatuba, South Africa from 18th - 25th October 2013. Six centres participated in the workshop with the same objective as of 1st workshop. Centres were given a detailed knowledge for installing, configuring, maintaining and working with the different components of CiB so that they would be able manage the entire life-cycle of research data management at their respective centre's HDSS data.
The service facility survey catalog provides access to data along with accompanying survey documents from facility level surveys conducted by the World Bank. We independently track vital events including births,deaths, causes of death, migrations and marriages and serves to monitor trends in fertility and mortality inter alia over time.
The word "Demographic Surveillance" means to keep close track of the population dynamics. Vadu HDSS deals with keeping track of health issues and demographic changes in Vadu rural health program (VRHP) area. It is one of the most promising projects of National relevance that aims at establishing a quasi-experimental intervention research setting with objectives.

The Kanchanaburi Project implemented by the Institute for Population and Social Research (IPSR), Mahidol University, Bangkok was established with a 1999 Wellcome Trust Award as a Center for Research Excellence. The field research centre is located in Saiyok district, Kanchanaburi province, about 200 kilometers west of Bangkok. The field centre is dedicated to the monitoring of population change and the evaluation of the effects of intervention based research. Read More »
The HDSS Site in the Wosera (East Sepik Province, PNG) currently covers 14,000 people located in 29 study villages. The surveillance set up by the PNG Institute of Medical Research as part of the development of a malaria vaccine field site in 1990 has been a resource in planning and evaluation of malarialogical studies. In addition to the basic demography recording births, death and migration (in, out and internal migration) a morbidity surveillance system is in place at the two main health centers serving the area. Magu HDSS, Tanzania
Magu HDSS was established in April, 1994 by the Tanzania-Netherlands Support Program on HIV/AIDS Control (TANESA) as one the components of the Kisesa Open Cohort Study. Other research components under the cohort include Epidemiological sero-surveys, Antenatal Clinic Surveillance and other specialized studies. In addition, since late 1995 several community interventions were introduced to promote safer sexual behavior.
The HDSS was established in 1995, which includes eight villages The Dikgale HDSS site is located in the central region of Mankweng District, Northern Province, South Africa, about 40 km from Polokwane, the capital of the Limpopo Province, and 15 km from the University of the North. The site covers an area of 71 km2 and is 6 km x 10.8 km. The villages are typical rural settlements where the dwelling units consist of a mixture of shacks, traditional mud huts and conventional brick houses. Chililab HDSS, Vietnam
CHILILAB DSS is a field laboratory attached to the Hanoi School of Public Health in Vietnam. It is located in Chi Linh district of Hai Duong province in the northern part of Vietnam and is about 60 km northeast of Hanoi. The population base for this surveillance system is approximately 56,000 inhabitants who live in 3 townships and 4 communes across a land area of 137.5 square kilometers which are under rapid process of urbanization. Adolescents and young adults aged between 15-24 years account for approximately 20% of the total district population.
